African dancing is not merely for the spectators. It is also for the benefit of the dancer. Witting or not, African dancing plays the role for Africans that martial arts like kung-fu, karate and qigong play for Orientals, as well as the general aerobic benefits.

When you watch Africans dance you see some similarities with the oriental martial arts like in Zulu war dances.
